I lay in bed all day because I have no life. Is that really a bad thing?

Not a ‘bad thing” at all. It’s terrible, so get up and smell the roses and quit breathing my air, first by studying the language. You do not “lay” in bed; you “lie” in bed. If you have no life you are dead when you obviously are still breathing and bitching, and “really” and “thing” add nothing to your pity party.

Beyond that, consider seeing a psychiatrist to help you fight your depression. Your PCP can advise you. Then read Garrison Keillor’s piece in the May/June 2022 Saturday Evening Post: Maybe I have 10 more years. What a gift! He is 70 and goes to bed at 9 and gets up at 5 to “start a new life as a writer” and is penning a book titled The LowBoys. The first sentence is:”I got into the music business in the hopes that I would find a girlfriend who would love and admire me.”

Keillor is reinventing himself at age 70. I did at age 40 and again at 90. If we can, I daresay, without a scintilla of evidence, that you can.
